course info
A short drive from the busy streets of Marrakech you will find the stunning mountains of Toubkal National Park and the highest mountain in the country Jbel Toubkal. At 4167m this peak is a fantastic introduction to trekking abroad and requires no technical equipment to reach its summit.
Our Toubkal Trek takes you on an incredible journey through the heart of the Atlas Mountains giving you the chance to relax and enjoy your time in the mountains. During the trek you will walk over high passes, through stunning mountain scenery and experience the excellent hospitality of the local Berber people. You will also taste the most amazing Moroccan food, see the largest waterfalls in the park and make your attempt on two of the highest mountains in North Africa - Jbel Toubkal and Ras. It’s an amazing experience and one you will never forget.
Trek Leaders.
This trek is led by British Expedition Leader Matt Cooper who has extensive experience of leading treks in Morocco with four successful expeditions to the summit of Jbel Toubkal. Matt has also guided the three highest peaks in Morocco (Toubkal, Oukaimeden and Jbel Mgoun). The trek will also be supported by local staff and muleteers who are an essential part of all of our Morocco expeditions.
Who is this for?
Some hill walking or trekking experience would be beneficial, however, a good level of fitness and a desire for adventure is what’s really required for this expedition! If you’re unsure about your experience why not send us an email and we can discuss further!
Accommodation During the Trek
Our accommodation in the mountains is a combination of guest houses and mountain refuge. Refuges are mountain huts with dorm-style rooms with all our group staying together. In Marrakech we will stay in a traditional luxury Riad that will have air conditioning, rooftop terrace and sunbeds. All rooms in Marrakech are twin rooms.
Altitude Sickness
With years of leading treks at altitude, we understand the importance of acclimatisation and making sure our clients get the best shot at reaching the summit. This is why we use a five-day itinerary which allows you to ascend slowly giving your body time to adjust to the change in altitude.
