The ability to navigate accurately is a fundamental part of Mountain Leader Assessment is often the area where trainees can make the most improvements.
During the workshop you will look at fundamental skills like contour interpretation, feature recognition and how to relate the map to the ground. You will also develop your understanding of pacing, timing and how accurately follow a bearing in complex terrain. By the end of the workshop you can expect to have improved your navigation and gained a better understanding of the level required for a successful outcome at assessment.
This workshop will be led by Matt Cooper who is a Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (MCI), Member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) and Trainer and Assessor for the Mountain Leader Scheme.
