Leading groups through steep ground can be one of the most challenging parts of being a Mountain Leader but its often the most rewarding. The leader needs the ability to safeguard members of the group on steep ground while making good decisions and adapting the day to changing conditions. On top of this, you need to be managing members of the group and making sure you’re keeping on track.
Our Steep Ground Masterclass is a great opportunity to explore the different styles and techniques used to manage people on steep ground. You will learn about route choice, safeguarding people on steep ground and managing different levels of ability. You will also look at a range of other topics like good communication and drills you can use to help improve your client's confidence and get the most out of the day.
This workshop will be led by Matt Cooper who is a Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (MCI), Member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) and Trainer and Assessor for the Mountain Leader Scheme.
