The Peak District is home to some of the best climbing to be found in the UK and with miles of Gritstone edges to choose from its certainly got something for everybody. Our Rock Up Crack Clinic is aimed at climbers of all levels who want to try or develop their crack climbing technique and become a crack climbing wizard. During the day our instructors will run several workshops looking at all elements of crack climbing from route choice through to taping your hands and crack climbing technique. We will also look at different styles of crack from finger cracks through to hand jamming and off widths.

What will we look at on the day?

  • Planning and route choice.
  • Types of crack climbing (Finger, hand Jamming and off widths)
  • Hand protection (Taping vs crack gloves)
  • Climbing technique (How to get up those cracks in style)
  • Injury avoidance.

Who is this course aimed at?

This course is aimed at people who have attended our Rock Skills Introduction or Intermediate courses or have a good understanding of belaying and tying into the rope. People with indoor climbing experience are also welcome but you must be able to demonstrate that you can belay and tie onto the rope independently. All climbing on this session will be top and bottom rope, No Lead Climbing!

Just got back from a fantastic weekend with Matt on the Welsh 3k and couldn't have asked for a better time. We had blue skies and cool air so it wasn't too hot and the views were simply incredible. Matt set a great pace allowing us to push our limits but never going beyond what we were capable of and we finished in 18 hours 32 mins. Hes a top bloke and I would certainly recommend him and The Mountaineering Company to anybody. Thanks again Matt. You will certainly see us again next year no doubt!

Yes, all climbers are welcome, but you must be able to demonstrate your ability to belay and tie onto the rope independently.

Because this is a supervised session, we won’t allow leading during the day. You can use this session to get awesome at crack climbing though and take it onto your own lead climbing sessions in the future!

You wont need any technical climbing gear to attend this session as we provide any equipment you may need. Ideally you will have rcok climbing shoes as this will guarantee you can make the most of the sessions. 

All climbing equipment is included in the price!
