Course Info
The Cuillin Ridge, located on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, is a challenging and dramatic mountain range that attracts mountaineers and climbers from around the world. In order to succeed on the ridge you need solid mountaineering experience at grade 2-3 and the ability to safely abseil - our Skye Preparation course in North Wales will give you all these skills so you can be ready for your trip to the Isle of Skye.
Our two day Cuillin Ridge Preparation Course in Eryri - North Wales is an opportunity for you to experience two days of mountaineering where we cover loads of ground and show you what's needed to get the most out of your week on Skye. Both days will be physically demanding with loads of grade II and II ground similar to what we would find on the Cuillin Ridge. You will also get lots of opportunities to abseil and descend steep ground.
Technical Skills- Tying onto the rope, using technical gear, removing and racking gear when climbing.
Equipment choice - The lighter your pack the easier the week will be. During the course, we will look at how to minimise equipment for the ridge and what essentials you need.
Movement Skills - Coaching on footwork and improving confidence so you can move efficiently on steep ground.
Abseiling - What goes up must come down and the Cuillin ridge is steep no matter the direction you travel. Over the weekend we will look at how to abseil quickly and safely without needing lots of direction from the instructor.
