Winter Season Round-Up in Scotland ❄️
Our winter season in Scotland has now come to an end, and what a fantastic season it turned out to be. Despite the challenges of exceptionally snowy conditions, we successfully delivered a large number of winter skills and mountaineering courses throughout the season.
Unlike previous years, where we often wished for more snow, this year we certainly had plenty of it! Thankfully, with careful planning and flexibility, we were able to run a full programme of courses and guiding days. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see so many clients out in the mountains, developing their skills and confidence, and leaving with lots of 5-star reviews and great feedback.
When we first started this business, our goal was simple: to help people gain the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to achieve their ambitions in the mountains. Seeing clients go on to enjoy safer and more rewarding days outdoors is exactly why we do what we do.
We’ve also invested in some new course equipment this season, including ice axes from DMM and Grivel crampons, which our clients can use during winter courses to ensure they’re learning with high-quality kit.

Jbel Toubkal 4,167m Summit Success
In February, we returned to Jbel Toubkal in Morocco for our annual winter trek to summit this iconic North African peak. Just 10 days before our arrival, the snow was so deep that the park had to close due to avalanche risks. Thankfully, we arrived during a perfect weather window, enjoying sub-zero conditions, clear blue skies, and an incredible week of trekking in the Atlas Mountains.
We are extremely proud that every member of our team reached the summit, guided by TMC founder Matt Cooper alongside our team of highly skilled Moroccan Certified Guides. The trek concluded with two relaxing days in Marrakech and a memorable final evening meal in the medina at one of our favourite local restaurants.
We currently have limited spaces available for our September (summer) trek and spaces still open for the next winter trek in February. Excitingly, we are also announcing a brand new trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro in January 2027 — more details coming soon!

Fundraiser Success for Ukrainian Action
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our recent fundraiser for Ukrainian Action.
Our brilliant group of clients successfully completed the five peaks of the Yr Wyddfa range, tackling cold and wet conditions along the way. Their determination and team spirit made the day a real success.
Together we raised £800 for Ukrainian Action, which will go towards supporting Matt’s upcoming mission to Ukraine this spring. He will be joining another convoy delivering vehicles and essential aid to help those affected by the ongoing war.
Matt is now just £150 away from reaching his fundraising target. If you’d like to support the mission, you can donate using the link below.
Podcast with Kenton Cool
TMC founder Matt Cooper recently joined mountaineering legend and all-round great guy Kenton Cool on his podcast to talk about Matt’s recent trip to Ukraine, his work with mountain rescue, and plenty of general mountaineering chat.
If you haven’t listened yet, you can check it out now on Spotify.
New Instructors at TMC
We’re very pleased to welcome Dave Evans and Will Nicholls to our team of instructors.
Both Dave and Will are highly experienced Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors, operating at the highest level in the UK. Alongside their professional work, they are also passionate and motivated climbers in both the summer and winter seasons.
They bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the team. Like all of our instructors, they’ve been carefully selected not only for their expertise but also for their ability to create a supportive and enjoyable atmosphere on courses — and they’re great fun to be in the mountains with too.

Spring Course Delivery
Spring is shaping up to be another busy and exciting season, with more than double last year’s bookings already confirmed! It’s fantastic to see so many returning clients coming back to join us, and we’re equally excited to welcome new clients to experience what our courses and events are all about.
We still have some spaces available for private bookings this spring, so get in touch soon if you’d like to discuss your plans. We’d love to help you build the skills and experience you need to confidently achieve your goals in the mountains.
