It's been a busy start to spring for us with loads of mountaineering, rock climbing and navigation courses. Here is a round-up of what we got up to!
In April we delivered the first of our Mountaineering Intro and Alpine Preparation courses for Adventure Base in Chamonix and it's been a huge success. We had clients arrive with a range of trips planned this year from Mont Blanc and Gran Paradiso to the Matterhorn and the Eiger. It was superb to see how our clients progressed during the week on epic routes like Cnefion Arete, Dolmen Ridge, Idwal Slabs and numerous routes on Tryfan. I had a fantastic instructional team working with me (Dave, Sam and Charlie) who put on a great week of high-quality instruction for our clients.
Spring Classic Rock
April was a fairly dry month and some spells of high pressure really helped dry out the mountain crags so we could get on some of the classics. My favourite of the month must have been Amphitheatre buttress which is a quality V-Diff with some amazing climbing and a superb finale on the pinnacles at the top.
Dolmen Ridge | The dangers of north faces
Glyder Fach North Face is a pretty intimidating place and the loose rock and commitment only add to the seriousness of the routes. In January two climbers were involved in an unfortunate accident where the leader took a 200m fall down west gully. I've visited the scene of the accident numerous times since to guide clients and a 1m block is now missing from the crux of the route - it doesn't change the grade or make it any harder but care is needed on that right side (Looking up the groove) as that section is well known for having plenty of large loose blocks.
Morocco Treks
Our Toubkal Trek in 2023 is proving popular as we sold most of the spaces in less than a week! Its a fantastic trek and we now only have two spaces remaining, click the link below to take a look at the expedition.
I will be adding more expeditions in the coming months now that the world is becoming more accessible, we are also planning an expedition to Nepal to summit a technical 6000m peak, more details on this by the end of the year. Drop me an email if you want adding to our mailing list for Nepal.
Website Update
Over the past two years, we've been asking our clients what they thought of our website and it's been great to hear what you think and get feedback. Our fantastic team of web designers at Design380 have now implemented the changes so it's easier to see our courses and what spaces are available and also some more pictures of what we get up to so you have a better idea of what we do during the course. We have also modified the about us section. Check it all out when you get time
We hope you have a fantastic year of adventure and please get in touch if we can help you with any mountain days or courses.
